Charles Whittaker is currently the Organist/Director
of Music at the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta. Mr.
Whittaker has twice performed at The Salzburg Church Music
Festival in Salzburg, Austria, where he conducted the
Mozarteum Orchestra. At the invitation of the Czech
government, he conducted Handel's "Messiah" with
his choir and The Prague Chamber Orchestra. At the
invitation of CNN International he was invited to perform
the music of Bach for broadcast in Europe during the special
Bach anniversary year. Charles is the founder and artistic
director of The Saint Cecilia Consort, an orchestra which
specializes in historically informed performances of music
from the 16th to early 19th centuries. Under his direction
the Consort has performed in many important venues,
including The Bruton Parish Church in Williamsburg, and
Spivy Hall in Morrow, Georgia. Mr. Whittaker's
performances are broadcast weekly throughout the south on
radio and television.
Diane Whittaker is associate director of music at
First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta, principal cellist of
the in-residence-orchestra the Saint Cecelia Consort, and
organist. She earned her music degrees at Westminster Choir
College, Princeton, N.J., and pursued graduate studies at
American University, Washington, D.C. and George Mason
University, Fairfax, Va. She has performed with several
orchestras in Georgia including the Macon Symphony Orchestra
and the Atlanta Community Symphony Orchestra. She has
participated in five European concert tours and performs
regularly in the Atlanta area.
Matthew Edwards is an avid Atlanta musician. He has served as guest
organist and choirmaster at churches including First Presbyterian
Church of Atlanta, and currently serves as their Carillon Choir
director. He is principal violist of the in-residence Saint Cecilia
Consort. An Atlanta native, Matthew enjoys running road races and is
a partner at the advertising agency MindShare USA.
Polly Price
is an active free-lance musician in the Atlanta area. She has performed with
several orchestras in Georgia, including the DeKalb Symphony Orchestra, the
Emory Symphony Orchestra, and the St. Cecelia Consort. A previous Virginia
resident, she performed with the McLean Symphony for two years. Her musical
tastes range from classical to country-western. Born in Arkansas, Ms. Price
has strayed from her classical training to perform the Orange Blossom Special at
appropriate gatherings. She is a professor at the Emory University School of
Law.
